Several years ago, at an estate sale, I ran across a couple of those fun little diaries that banks used to give out, dated 1928 and 1930.
They were written by a young lady, who I'll call Eleanor (although her real name is listed in the diary), growing up near the Akron area. She detailed both the interesting and the mundane details of life in the late 1920s.
August 28, 1928
Rhea and I did the washing this evening and got through about 11:00. We went to the store then, and I got some cheese.
Dorothy went over to Harriet's, then they went to see Lillian.
