Several years ago, at an estate sale, I ran across a couple of those fun little diaries that banks used to give out, dated 1928 and 1930.
They were written by a young lady, who I'll call Eleanor (although her real name is listed in the diary), growing up near the Akron area. She detailed both the interesting and the mundane details of life in the late 1920s.
August 27, 1928
Mother and Rhea canned pickles tonight.
Howard and I went canoeing tonight - at Summit Lake. he has his own canoe (in partnership) black & white & real comfy - had a good time. Got back about 12:30
