Salesman's meeting - worked till about 6 o'clock.

Howard's District Supt'd's mother died so he went with the rest of them to see her - brought me home from work tho [sic].

Elaine & Kate J. came up tonight and Rhea & they & I went for a walk. Howard called up about 10:00 when we were out.

Rhea brot [sic] my 'bike' home from Ruth J.'s where it has been all summer.

September 6, 1928

Rained today.

Took Dorothy downtown to a bowling meeting tonight - then came home and cut out my new rose crepe-sateen dress.

Dorothy stayed all night at Beanie's.

September 5, 1928

Howard brot [sic] me home from work today, as usual - up to the race track first. Dorothy and I did the wash tonight.  I washed the sick clothes.  Howard came up while we were washing - to see if I knew how, ha ha.

September 4, 1928

Still cool.  Mrs. Cahill died today.  Ceil, Mary & D.H. back today - Pauline away.  Louise & I went out this noon - she has an awful cold.  Cold in the office too.

Howard came after me this evening and came home via C.F. as most usual.  Stopped at the store on the way home. Mother, Father and I only ones home to supper 0 I got it. Rhea is at Ruth J.'s, Dorothy with Butters's [sic].

Deiningers, Vernons & Bob L. here tonight.  I talked to Frank Gilbert on the telephone tonight.


Hmm - is Eleanor looking to replace Howard?

September 3, 1928

Coolish kinda this AM.  Got up at 8:30 and washed some dresses and ironed them and finished the other ironing.  Washed my hair too.  Mother is 45 today.

Howard came up about quarter of two and we left about an hour later.  Drove south as far as Dennison, ate at Urichsville and on the way home he had the top down and I wore my 'bandana hat' - sure was swell! Got a couple of muskmelons on the way back.  Came home via Fulton Field about 8:30 - cleaned up and went to the fireworks at Summit Beach. Got home about 11:30 and after a :family talk" he went home about 1:00

September 2, 1928

Louise and I got up, had breakfast then went to her church, i.e. where she plays the organ - The Arlington ME, then went to her sisters for dinner.  While there got a call - Howard called at one. Called home, then Howard's but he wasn't there. Louise brit [sic] me home and we 'helped' with the pickle canning a little bit.

About 4:30 L.A.  and I went to Brady Lake, met Howard on the way out, he as on his way back.  He was very disappointed. We 3 went swimming then home.  H & I went to the Falls.  Saw William Haines in "Telling the World". It was very good.  HAd a good time. Stow sure is the ticket.

September 1, 1928

Was a half-hour late for work this morning - Father took me down.  Howard called me, then came after me this noon.  Father had (unreadable) a to-do about the jars - then went to work. Howard took me down after them then brit [sic] me home and after the Ford. Service is the word.

Rhea and I went to town and met Dorothy and we picked out a lamp for Mother. Went to the store after we got home.  Louise came after me and we went to Springfield to the dance.  Terrible fire in East Akron - some reclaiming plant.  I stayed with Louise tonight - had a good time.

Fire at Lowenthall Reclaiming (rubber) plant.  One man killed, eight houses destroyed. Damage was estimated at $500,000.
